hocking Hills Cabins

It is still snowing tonight here in Hocking Hills. We had quite a bit of snow at the cabins today and of course the first snow my jeep decided to let me down for the first time in 8 years. My guests had to park at the bottom of the hill since they did not bring 4 wheel drive as mentioned, we will have to try and get all of their stuff carried down since I do not have my jeep to go up the fill

When coming to the Hocking Hills in the winter it is always a good idea to bring 4 wheel drive. We do let everyone know that if you come to our cabins in the Hocking Hills during the winter and we get snow we cannot be responsible for getting you up and down the hills, they are very steep but we do plow but there are those unusual occasions like today when the jeep was not able to do what it needed because the frame cracked and needs to be repaired. I have never had this happen in the 9 years we have been open but there is always a first like today. The Hocking Hills is not a place to be without 4 wheel drive in the winter, if you have ever been to the Hocking Hills you know what I am talking about, if you have never been to the Hocking Hills just ask anyone, there are many hills and curves and 4 wheel drive is a must when there is snow.

Hocking Hills Cabins

It is cold outside but warm inside. What a great place to come and unwind before or after the holidays. The fireplace and hot tub are the two things that make the cabin a great place to be and of course the privacy, being surrounded by the trees and being able to see nothing at night but the stars is wonderful. We had a chance to stay at one of our cabins this weekend, something we never get to do and it was wonderful, I loved relaxing in the hot tub and watching the stars and the planes way off in the distance. I can honestly say I would love to be here all of the time. (maybe one of these days I can retire to one of them) they are beautiful, and I am not just saying that because I am the owner. It is true. The surroundings are nothing but the woods and the sounds of nature, so if you love being alone with a loved one in the woods this is the perfect spot. Very relaxing.

Having a great day, weather is great and the perfect time to be at the cabins and Hocking Hills doing all the activities there are, canoeing, kayaking, hiking. This is such a beautiful area of Ohio. I love it here.

Well the rain didn't come to Hocking Hills after all

Well after a rainy start it didn't do anything today. The sun came out and it was acually pretty nice 70*and partly sunny. The fox was out again, there are actually 5 and they are red fox (so cute) they let me get pretty close (within about 10 ft) and they just sit there while I talk to them. I love the outdoors, I wish it was summer year round so I could enjoy nature in the hocking hills all year long.

Today it was a little chilly getting out of bed but it got better as the day went on.
Got all the cabins cleaned so I went to a bike ride but it was really windy, (makes it hard to ride when it is coming at you).

I can't wait for the weather to get warm again, I love it when it is in the 80's and I can lay in the hammocks in between getting the cabins ready for the next guests. It is just so peaceful hear, no roads with a bunch of noise from cars, no neighbors just the sounds of the chipmunks and other little creatures making noise as they run through the leaves in the woods.

If you would like some peace and quite and love the sounds of nature come stay a few nights at our cabins in the Hocking Hills. We are approx 8 miles from Old Mans Cave and 5 miles from Conkles Hollow, if you like to fish we are about 5 miles from Lake Logan and just about 7 miles to Kroger and Wal-Mart and some of the are restaurants like Bob Evans, Arby's, McDonald's, Olde Dutch and then of course there is the Millstone BBQ and the LasCascada Mexican restaurant.

Another beautiful day in the Hocking Hills, we were fortunate enough today to have 70* weather here in the hills of Ohio. What a great day. Hocking Hills today, cold again. No sun. At least yesterday there was some sun to help warm things up. The cabins are all ready for spring, the hammocks will be coming out shortly and I know everyone is ready to start grilling out.

I am so excited to have the time change, because we will have daylight much longer and the crickets will soon be chirping. I love to have the windows open when I go to bed so I can listen to the peaceful sounds of nature. The wooded property at our cabins provide the perfect backdrop for the sounds of nature. We have 4 little red fox that come and visit as well as deer, turkey, raccoons and other tiny creatures. The fox are so cute, they let you get so close to them before backing up just a bit to keep you at a small distance. I love when the weather gets nice because I get to see all the cute animals coming back.

What a difference a day can make, it is freezing today in the Hocking Hills. I went to the cabins today and it was so cold changing hot tubs, very windy also. Compared to yesterday it is horrible.

I love hot weather, 90* year round would be my perfect weather. I cannot wai until summer gets here. I would love to be in Arizona right now instead of the Hocking Hills :)

Don't get me wrong, I love the beauty here in the hills, just not the cold weather.

It is a little chilly in the hocking hills today, a little rain but not to much. I keep thinking to myself Spring is right around the corner so we have to be patient but it is hard when winter hangs on so long and after all the power outages this year I can't wait for some good weather.

Wow this has been a crazy winter in the hocking hills, and I am glad that spring is just around the corner. If you have ever been to the hocking hills in Ohio you know what I mean when I say crazy winter. With all the ice and wind we have had many power outages this year in the hocking hills.
I know that my customers at martinwoods cabin rentals will be happy to see spring and summer, many of the new customers think I am kidding when I mention 4 wheel drive being a must here in the hocking hills at our cabins, until they get here are realize it was not a joke at all.

I look forward to seeing all the familiar faces and many new ones that are scheduled to visit our cabins here in the hills, it is such a beautiful place and it can only be appreciated by staying in one of our cabins and enjoying the surroundings and seeing what the hocking hills has to offer
