No High Speed internet available at this time

As we had mentioned in an earlier post we were to be getting high speed internet, unfortunately they have told us we are unable to get it in our service area after telling us for months we could. We ordered it and the next day received a call from Frontier telling us they had cancelled our order because it is not available. To say the least we were upset because they had promised for months, even checking address and phone number to verify after I questioned the availability. We have tried and tried to no avail to get them to get it to us.

We are in a remote area and can get direct tv (Dish network and hughes net are not a possibility as we have been told their satellites sit too low in the sky).

We do have a phone line at the cabin so dialup is a possibility if you have people pc, aol, netzero etc. Some give free trials so if coming to the cabin that might be an option for you if needing internet.

Of course the whole reason for coming to the Hocking Hills is to disconnect from technology so it can be a good thing:)

New concrete drive

I am beyond excited to say that we have a brand new concrete driveway to our Hocking Hills Cabin.It was just poured this morning and I am so happy that my guests will now have a much easier time getting up our hill:) the deer and her 2 babies seemed to enjoy it as well in the afternoon:)

We are ready for some heat

I know most of you would say that summer is here, I on the other hand have not felt the summer heat yet. I love heat and hope we get some soon before summer is over. Martinwoods Cabins in Hocking Hills now has free nationwide calling

If you have not been to the cabin in a while we now have FREE nationwide long distance at the cabin. We are also told that we qualify for high speed internet. We are checking into that since we have always been told no but when we called to check on long distance they said it is now available. So we shall see if this is true. This will mean that you will be able to use your computer without dial up which will be huge for us since we have NEVER been able to have high speed. We cannot get hughes net or any other service since we are deep in the woods:) We are hoping the operator that we spoke with at Frontier knows what she is talking about but I am still skeptical since we are so far out and this has never been an option for the cabin before.

Will keep you updated on what we find out but for now the long distance is available and hopefully high speed will be in our near future here at Martinwoods

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been beautiful this week (high 80's) we have had a slow start to spring and summer but hoping this nice weather means we are jumping right into summer. The cabin is ready for guests and we have added some new patio furniture, arcade game with 60 games, new picnic tables, corn hole and more. Come visit and relax with your family and enjoy the beautiful cabin that sits in the the woods. The only thing you will see is the  woods, turkey, deer, raccoon, fox etc. It is a great place to come and forget all your cares for a few days or a week.

The cabin will sleep up to 20 guests with 8 bedrooms 4 baths, 2 large kitchens and 2 great rooms. all the modern conveniences without the hectic world around it. There are 7 queen beds and 4 full beds.

Large Woodpeckers at Martinwoods Cabins in Hocking Hills

Today was beautiful, very spring/summer like. Not sure what the weekend will bring but today was perfect. Had the windows open to allow all the fresh spring air to enter the cabin, after being closed up all winter it was great to be able to smell the fresh air and listen to all the sounds of nature that abound here in Hocking Hills. We have the largest woodpeckers, I would swear these things are on Miracle-Gro. They are huge, at least 12" long, I think the woodpeckers get bigger each year. I was able to sit and enjoy all the sounds of the birds, wind through the trees and all the noises on the ground like the chipmunks and squirrels as they ran through the woods.
